Walking Dead: Final Blog Post

I love the Walking Dead graphic novel series. I truly do. But where I am now, the series definitely got away from itself. These are the reasons:

1. The author killed off far too many characters.

2. The plot got repetitive

3. Too many people got amputated.

4. The series moved too fast.

1. Too many people died:

In the beginning of the 8th book they had 15 survivors with them. Within that book they killed off 8 characters.  By the end they only had 2 people you were sure were still alive. They went from 15 to 2 known characters left. It got a little ridiculous.

2. The plot got repetitive:

In all the books, the basic idea of finding a place to stay goes like this: Find a shelter; make it livable; a tragic event causes the characters to leave the shelter; then repeat.

In the first book they find the camp in the woods, their people get attacked. They leave. In the second book they find Hershel's farm, it gets overrun with the zombies in the barn. They leave.

In the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth book they find a jail, it gets attached by zombies, and the Governor…… They leave.

This sequence of events definitely stopped being intriguing.

3. Amputation Crazy:

From the second book to the twelfth book, there were seven human amputations of main characters. In the second book Allen is bitten, Rick cuts his leg off to save him, Allen dies. In the third book two young girls are beheaded by a prisoner of the jail. In the fourth book Rick's arm is amputated by the Governor. In the 5th book, the Governor's arm is amputated and burned. In the 6th book, Dale's leg is amputated to live. In the seventh book Tyreese is beheaded. In the 11th book, Dale's other leg is amputated.

4. Moving too fast:

Lots of ideas have started moving fast. Shelters, motives, and enemies. 

Shelters- After Rick leaves the jail in book 8, they are forced to move from place to place. This was extremely hard to follow and the transitions between changes weren't long enough to help me understand

Motives-  After book 8 the group is traveling from place to place so they could find a better shelter.  After that the meet 3 other survivors who are on their way to Washing to find a safe place to live. They were being led by a man named Eugene who claimed he was working for the government. they find out Eugene was lying and they had been risking their lives for nothing.  They then meet Aaron who lives in a boarded up town that is a liable safe house for them. they follow him to his town.

If this sounds confusing, It's supposed to, because that's how I felt the entire time reading it

All in all the series got extremely confusing and felt rushed and pushed.  the series had lost its charm by book 6 and just got less intriguing after that.
